PG Progressives proudly endorses a YES vote on Proposition 50 in the November 4 Special Election.
Here’s why this measure matters:

When extraordinary circumstances require emergency congressional maps, Prop 50 puts the decision on the ballot for a transparent, statewide vote — decided by Californians, not backroom deals.A temporary safeguard.
Prop 50 is time-limited and sunsets in 2030. California’s Independent Redistricting Commission remains the standard and resumes map-drawing after the next census.Fair representation.
With extreme maps elsewhere that tilt outcomes, Prop 50 provides a lawful, short-term backstop so the 2026 cycle runs on rules that better reflect the will of the people — here in Pacific Grove and across California.
Endorsement Transparency
PG Progressives is a chartered Democratic club through the Monterey County Democratic Central Committee. Endorsements require a two-thirds vote by at least 20 eligible members to be adopted by our organization. Measures previously endorsed by the Monterey County Democrats are eligible for consideration.
We are proud to share that Proposition 50 surpassed this threshold with a unanimous vote of support from PG Progressives members — and we unanimously urge a YES vote on Prop 50.
